Sinn Fein seeks magic wand, others may follow

Sinn Fein’s new policing board member, Martina Anderson, has asked for prisoners’ records to be destroyed. Well, having herself been imprisoned for conspiring to cause explosions she would, wouldn’t she?

For your average citizen attempts like this to pretend vile, violent acts against others were ever justified or OK and then magically make them vanish appall the vast majority of people, both here and elsewhere.

Who’ll give me odds for the UDA/UVF echoing Martina’s request?

Intro

Welcome to Orangey Green. With the assembly finally up and running (sort of) I’ll be writing about politics, news and events relevant to our small piece of hallowed turf over the next few weeks/months. This’ll be a Nor’n Iron centric blog. No apologies.

Regardless of what you call this place, Ulster, six counties, Northern Ireland – we’re seen as not wholly Irish by the Irish and the British …ditto. And neither of them want us. Those of both traditions who’ve grown up here have more shared culture, values and background with each other than most of us care to admit.

So, off we go then…just give me some time to find my way around WordPress and tart the place up. Suggestions welcome.
